How do I test my microphone online?

Press Start Test, allow microphone access when the browser asks, then speak normally. The level bar should move with your voice and the status will change to "Microphone is working". Nothing is recorded or uploaded.

Is my audio recorded or sent anywhere?

No. The audio stream is analysed in the browser to compute a volume level and is never written to disk or transmitted. Closing the page or pressing Stop releases the microphone immediately.

The bar does not move when I speak — what now?

Check that the right input device is selected in your system sound settings, that the microphone is not muted in hardware, and that no other app such as a video call has exclusive use of it. On a laptop, try unplugging a headset so the built-in microphone is used.

Why does the browser keep asking for permission?

Permission is tied to the site and is cleared when you browse privately or when your browser is set to forget permissions. Grant it from the padlock icon in the address bar and choose to remember the decision.

Does this work on iPhone?

Yes, in Safari on iOS the microphone works on pages served over HTTPS. You must tap Start Test yourself — iOS will not grant microphone access without a direct user gesture.
